Waz-mahfil in preaching the religion: some relevant things

Introduction:
The latest divine constitution sent by Allah is the Holy Quran and its interpretation is Hadith. On the day of the Farewell Hajj, the Prophet Muhammad (sm), the Messenger of the liberation of the world, has strongly instructed to hold these two objects firmly in order to avoid all kinds of confusion and misguidance. [1] On that day, he accepted the responsibility of fulfilling the responsibility of the message entrusted to him by the Sahabis present and conveyed his invitation to the absentees. [2] He entrusted the guruship of religious da'wah to the ummah. Elsewhere in this context, he said, بَلِّغُوا عَنِّى وَلَوْ آيَةً 'Even if it is a verse from me, deliver it'. [3]
Waz-mahfil is one of the means of conveying this message. Whose contribution to social reform is undeniable. This practice has been well known in the Indian subcontinent since time immemorial. In the winter season, Waz-Mahfil is organized with the festival. This event, which has been going on for centuries in the neighborhoods, cities and ports, has now become much more widespread. Got a touch of modernity. As a result of the advancement of science, Waz-mahfil has spread all over the world. As soon as you turn on the Android mobile in your hand, the image of Waz-Mahfil from different parts of the world comes out. It is very easy to gain knowledge from this. But lately some dishonest organizers, flamboyant negotiators, political influences, mutual tears, high demand of negotiators or contract-based speeches, Due to administrative constraints and bizarre conditions, this unique medium of invitation is being questioned in many cases. In this article, for the readers, we will try to present the importance and necessity of Waz Mahfil in propagating the religion and its real picture and some relevant things in modern times, InshaAllah.

Waz-mahfil meaning:
'Waz' (وعظ) is an Arabic word. It means advice, advice, speech. Such as: preaching: preaching, preaching, preaching, preaching, preaching: remembrance and remembrance with the precepts (Lisanul Miyan , 8/46 p.) . Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning ) : In the verse in question, Allah has used the word 'waz' as the medium of 'Dawah Ilallah'. Allah has called the advice given by Lokman to his child 'Waz'. Do not associate anyone with Allah. Surely shirk is the greatest sin.(Lokman 31/13) . Similarly, the term is used to refer to disobedient wives. As Allah says, وَاللَّاتِي تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ '
And the word 'mahfil' (محفل) comes from the word حفل. It is singular. In the plural, mahafil means مَكَان الِاجْتِمَاع والمجلس 'meeting place' (mu'jamul wasitb) . The gathering in which the ulama give advice or advice on various aspects of Islam is called waz-mahfil.
Importance and requirements:
Calling people to the path of religion is a dignified act. Allah has mentioned the words of Dawood on this path as the most beautiful. He said, "Whoever does good deeds is better than the man who says , 41/33) . The mission of the prophets and messengers was to call people to Allah and to keep them away from taghut. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):. The last Prophet Muhammad (sm) and his Sahabis remained steadfast in the field of Da'wah despite hundreds of adversities and obstacles. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): This is my way. I and my followers invoke Allah with awake knowledge. Glory be to God! And I am not of the polytheists' (Yusuf 12/106) . That is, Rasul (sm) and Sahabis were all Dai Ilallah. In order to enlighten the darkened society, which is immersed in the abomination of ignorance, in the light of revelation, they have continuously done da'wah work and have entrusted this guru responsibility to Muhammad in the Ummah. Waz-mahfil is one of the means of that invitation. It is an unparalleled approach to the betterment and improvement of human society. This creates an opportunity to unite the people and call them to Allah.
Waz-mahfils have been organized in this country for ages in the winter season. From October to February, the festival is held in different parts of the country for about five months. Well-known and valuable scholars and ulama from far and wide have been preaching on various subjects for a long time. This created a religious atmosphere among the people and some people became interested in following the rules of Islam. Many are convinced of the acceptance of halal and the rejection of haram. In this way, a religious atmosphere was gradually created in the society.
In the recent past, indecent ceremonies like dancing, singing, etc. were organized in the villages and ganjas, but lately it has come down to a great extent. Even the area in particular has risen absolutely. Religious ceremonies like waz-mahfil have taken over that place. Those who used to hold palagan gatherings are now becoming devotees of religion and interested in organizing religious ceremonies. Therefore, in order to reform a superstitious society, the importance of public religious gatherings like Waz-Mahfil, Dawati Sabha-Samabesh, Islamic Jalsa-Sammelan, Tablighi Ijtema etc. is immense.
Waz-mahfil halachitra:
In addition to the widespread spread of waz-mahfil, its negative effects are also being noticed due to some reasons. Due to a class of ignorant religious commentators, many people are getting the opportunity to call Waz Mancha as an entertainment stage. Again many are using this platform for political interests. Many commentators have questioned this stage through false stories, some through derogatory remarks and gestures in the name of remembrance, some through mutual inaudible insults and backbiting. This stage of distributing the light of religion seems to have become a mixed stage. Some of the objectionable issues related to this are highlighted here, from which it is very important to keep the Waz mahfil safe.
Bizarre storytelling service:
There are many well-known and expensive commentators in the country, in whose discussions more fabricated stories can be heard than the Qur'an-Hadith. Even after giving speeches for hours, the Qur'an-Hadith cannot be heard from the mouths of some of them.
Several years ago. The month of Ramadan. I boarded a bus from Dhaka to Comilla on an invitational tour. The supervisor of the bus may have started the waz without playing the song in the blessings of Ramadan. I started listening to the speech of a cuckoo speaker about the torment of the grave. I did not hear a single verse or hadith on the subject in the one and a half hour speech of that speaker of the initials 'T'. In addition to describing the dignity and power of a saint, he says, When he was buried after the death of Pir Baba, the angel of Munkar-Naki entered his grave and slapped them loudly. Munkar-Nakir then complained to Allah that, O Lord! You sent us to one of your servants who slapped us before we could ask questions. Allah then asked, "Did you greet him when you entered the grave?" The angels said no. He said, "He has slapped you." First greet this old man of mine and ask forgiveness, then ask him. God bless you.
Again, some people make false and false hadiths and baseless words. Although they know the saheeh hadeeth against their own madhhabs, doctrines and methods, they do not say so. He is propagating the religion through false or fabricated hadith made in the name of Rasool (sm). As a result, they are ruining the Hereafter. The Prophet (sm) said, 'Do not lie against me, for he has not lied against the fire, so do not lie to me.' Because whoever lies against me will enter Hell. ' [4] Elsewhere, he says, مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَىَّ فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ. [5]Therefore, care must be taken in the selection of speakers. Only those scholars who really have knowledge of Qur'an-Hadith and speak on the basis of documents should be invited.
Negotiators' gestures and obscene language:
The gestures and language of some of the negotiators are very offensive. They captivate the audience by imitating movie actors and singers. Serves meaningless and indecent music, makes shameful gestures. Apparently it looks like it's not a stage, but a stage. In the language of the Qur'an, they are the buyers of 'Lahwal Hadith' or nonsense. He said, ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث ليضل عن سبيل الله بغير علم ويتخذها هزوا أولئك لهم عذاب مهين, ' some of the people there, they ajnatabase balls purchase the way of God bicyut in order, and they are God's path with irony. For them is a humiliating punishment ' (Lokman 31/6). Here 'baje katha' means music. Which diverts people from the worship of Allah. Rasoolullah (sm) warned his ummah and said: (1) The sound of music and the melody of the devil during the dance-song. [6] Therefore, with the exception of Quran and Hadith, there is no doubt that these performances, music and comedy discussions will have a negative impact on the society. Therefore, all concerned should come back from all these heartless discussions.
Gossip and slander: Gossip or slander is a heinous act. In Arabic it is called 'Gibat'. Which is completely forbidden. Whom Allah has likened to eating the flesh of a dead brother (Hujurat 49/12) . The Prophet (sm) said about the identity of backbiting, تَتَدْرُونَ مَا الْغِيبَةُ؟ They said: Allah and His Messenger know it. He said: انِن كَانَ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ ، فَقَدِ اغْتَبْتَهُ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ فَقَدْ بَهَتَّهَ Do you know what 'backbiting' is? They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "What your brother dislikes is called backbiting." The question is, what if what I say is in my brother? The Prophet (sm) said, "If what you are saying exists in him, then you have 'backbited' him." And if not, then you have slandered him.[7]
Lately, a class of negotiators has been using Waz's platform for this heinous act. In front of thousands of people, another scholar is being slandered. Attempts are being made to increase one's dignity by humiliating others. It is so disgusting that Allah will not forgive him except the person concerned. The Prophet (sm) says, من كانت له مظلمة لأخيه من عرضه أو شيء فليتحلله منه اليوم قبل أن لا يكون دينار ولا درهم إن كان له عمل صالح أخذ منه بقدر مظلمته وإن لم تكن له حسنات أخذ من سيئات صاحبه فحمل عليه- 'person of If he is responsible for his brother's dishonor or any other wrongdoing, he should ask forgiveness from him today, Before the day comes when he will have no dinar or dirham. If he does any good deed on that day, the amount of his wrongdoing will be taken from him and if he does not do any good deed, it will be taken from the sin of his opponent and it will be imposed on him.[8]
List of party leaders and workers on the poster:Nowadays, when you look at the posters of Waz-mahfil, you can see huge names. It is difficult to find the name of the main negotiator in the list of names of party leaders and workers. The names of the leaders of the exclusive ruling party in some mahfils. The names of the leaders of both the parties appear in the posters to satisfy both the parties. Mahfil authorities do not want to offend anyone. Besides, the names of local and well-known traders are not excluded to get financial benefits. Just a list of names throughout the poster. This is like an exhibition of names and titles. Moreover, with the position of the name, there is noise, anger, affection and pride. He is such a big leader, why his name was not given before the name of such and such? This led to suppressed anger, dissatisfaction and consequently boycott of the gathering. In some cases, false propaganda was also used to disrupt the program. This transparent assembly of religious da'wah is blackened. At present another unannounced rule has been introduced that, The MP of the area where the mahfil will be held must be the chief guest. Whether he is present or not, know or not know. As soon as the name appears on the poster. The chair cannot be given to any highly qualified person in the area. Otherwise the permission of the mahfil will not be granted.
Waz-mahfil in the field of political propaganda: Nowadays, waz-mahfil in villages has become a platform for propaganda of political leaders. Local chairmen, members and party leaders or potential candidates have turned the gatherings into the center of their party campaign. They are even so influential that they have to stop the current speech on the stage and give them time to speak. This leads to a rhythmic decline in the discussion of the negotiator. The audience is distracted. Is a waste of time. Above all, it is a major obstacle to invitation. Even then, the authorities are forced to give such an opportunity. It is to be noted that if these leaders had sat for some time and listened to the speeches, how beautiful they would have been and would have benefited them. But at all they do not come to hear the speech.
Gifts or exchanges? The gift of the speakers is an important part of the waz-mahfil. There is a lot of talk about this nowadays. The price of Islamic negotiators seems to have increased in line with the times. The demand of some speakers has exceeded one lakh rupees. In the distant past, the clergymen of the religion have selflessly preached the religion on foot, on horseback, traveling miles and miles. In the recent past too, Deen has been invited to ride in rickshaws, vans, motorcycles, horse carts, buffalo carts, boats etc. But nowadays we have private cars, micro, I have been doing invitations by plane and even by helicopter. Even then their openness is not in us. Their selfless invitation is now just a memory. Why is it that selfishness is involved in everything we do? Either it is financial or dignified or any other matter. We do not give the date of the mahfil unless there is an advance deposit. If there is no possibility of getting the desired gift, I say the date is not empty. We need a private secretary. Even if you can't ask for it yourself, the purpose is done through PS or the driver of the car. We have come down so low that sending development gifts does not prevent us from asking for development costs. This situation needs to change.
Hadia means gift. Hadia is perfect in Islam. The Prophet (sm) instructed to exchange gifts. He said, تَهَادُوا تَحَابُّوا 'You exchange gifts with each other, then love will be created between you'. [9] Mother Ayesha (R) said, كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقْبَلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ وَيُثِيبُ عَلَيْهَا, 'The Prophet (sm) used to accept gifts and give them back'. [10] Abu Salamah said, “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. [11]Therefore, it is permissible for the Entezamia Committee to accept the gift or patheya given voluntarily to the speaker. However, if it is determined by the demand or demand of the speaker or by bargaining, then it is not perfect at all. Then it is no longer a gift, it becomes an exchange. Prophets and messengers, even the Sahabis, did not accept the exchange of religious invitations. As Noah (pbuh) said, وَمَا ْأَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ َْجْرٍ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ ِّلَّا عَلَى رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ, 'I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is only with the Lord of the worlds' (Shu'ara 26/109). Hood (AS) said to the people of his people: "O people! I do not want any exchange from you. Only the one who created me has the reward for it. Do you not yet understand? ' (Hood 11/51) . Addressing the Prophet (sm), Allah said :. Elsewhere, he said, "Say, 'I ask you for a reward, except for those who wish you to take it to your Lord, Sabila.' But whoever wants to spend in the way of Allah, he can follow the path of his Lord (satisfaction) ' (Furqan 25/56) . He said, "Say, 'I do not ask you for any reward for it (except for the remembrance of the Qur'an or the religion).' In fact, this Qur'an is only a reminder for the worlds' (An'am 8/90) . Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "Follow those who do not ask you for any reward, and they are rightly guided" (Yasin 36/21).. From the above verses it is as clear as day that there is no worldly reward or exchange for preaching the religion. Because only Allah the Almighty will give its exchange.
However, in some cases the negligence of the organizers is also widely observed. None of the organizers could be found after the concert. Patheya is not given properly. There is no suitable arrangement for the speaker's position, accommodation or return. As much as the speaker is appreciated before the mahfil, when the mahfil is over, its ears are no longer left. This behavior is highly reprehensible.
Fascinating headlines from Facebook and YouTubers:
There is a class of Facebookers and YouTubers who upload waz-mahfils for their own business interests. As a result, in order to increase the viewership, they cut out all the parts and leave them on the page with flashy headlines, which will force anyone to watch the video. And the higher the viewer, the higher the revenue from YouTube. The disadvantage of this is that if any part of the speech is negative or critical, it will get more publicity. Even though there is a lot of positive talk, it does not get publicity. At one stage, the opposition also retaliated. As a result, weeping continues. YouTuber had the benefit in the middle. I was returning to Rajshahi from Dhaka with such a professional videoman 3/4 years ago sitting on the bus side by side. He has a video shop in Rajshahi. Former acquaintances and non-Muslims. I asked, when did grandfather come to Dhaka? He said, not Dhaka, I went to a mahfil in Mymensingh to video the speech of such a speaker. From there I am returning to Rajshahi via Dhaka. I didn't understand the subject well then but now I understand the reason.
Numbers are never a measure of success:
The success of the waz-mahfil means beautiful pandals, attractive stage, dazzling lighting, advanced sound system, speeches of famous and expensive speakers and the presence of a large audience. But does the success of a religious gathering really depend on the participation of a large number of listeners?
In fact, if you want to think about the success of Waz-Mahfil, you have to think about its purpose first. Its main purpose is to bring the listeners to the path of religion. Therefore, if this purpose is achieved even in a small gathering, then it will be a successful gathering. On the other hand, if the discussion of the audience in the field does not make any impression in the minds of the listeners and cannot guide them on the highway of guidance, then it is never a successful gathering. Because numbers are never a measure of success. The guidance of just one listener is more valuable than the sacrifice of the most valuable red camel. As the Prophet (sm) said to the commander Ali (R) who was sent on the conquest of Naeem fort, that, Good '. [12]So the goal is not only to win the hearts of the people but also to change their lives. The success of the mahfil should be judged by this criterion, not by the number of listeners present.
Official Obstacles:
Earlier, no permission was required for waz-mahfil. As far as I remember, since 2005, the rule of government permission for waz-mahfil or Islamic Jalsa has been introduced. As a result, one more step in the propagation of religion increased and the waz-mahfil became a tool of the will and reluctance of the party leaders. Everything is done at the behest of the one who is in power or influential. If he wants permission, it doesn't match. First you have to make a written application to the concerned district administrator. The district administrator then wrote to the district police superintendent to submit an investigation report. The Superintendent of Police wrote to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the concerned police station to investigate the matter and submit a report. The OC of the police station then assigned a sub-inspector to investigate. In this long process, after the report of the investigating officer has reached the office of the SP through the police station OC and the SP through the SP, if the report is positive, then the mahfil is allowed. And if it is negative, permission is not obtained. This is the description of the white eye. But there is a lot behind it. If it is seen that the organizer of the gathering, the negotiator is a dissenter then everything happens with a negative gesture. However, the excesses of those in charge of the administration have reached a climax somewhere. When they hear about any Islamic program, they get angry. But they have no objection to co-hosting music, traveling or any kind of concert. Unfortunately for us, there are so many obstacles to speak of Islam today in the land of Muslims. Where Allah the Almighty has spoken of preaching the religion, has repeatedly urged, and his Prophet Muhammad (sm) has instructed the preaching of the religion, these Muslim leaders of the Muslim country are harming themselves by obstructing the permission to preach the religion. May Allah give us the right understanding!
Conclusion : There is no substitute for invitation to build a beautiful, peaceful and religious society. And waz-mahfil is an important means of invitation. We must be vigilant so that this transparent medium, which has been around the subcontinent for ages, never becomes opaque, tarnished by the privileged and selfish class. Scholars and speakers also need to be careful about this. You have to be more polite in speaking. In order to selflessly convey the documentary message of the Holy Quran and Sahih Hadith, one has to be firmly committed. Only then will divine help come down. May Allah help us - Amen!
