Is winter a problem for Muslim?
Question: If bathing is obligatory on a severe winter day, can I perform tayammum and pray? Note that I do not have the tools that I can immediately become holy. Moreover, I have a cold; My back is sick, I'm in terrible pain.
Answer: If the person on whom bathing is obligatory wants to perform the prayer, it is obligatory on him to take a bath with water. The proof is the word of Allah: "And if you are junub (unclean) then you will be purified." [Surat al-Ma'ida, verse: 6] Due to cold (if he has nothing to heat the water); Then the person can perform tayammum with soil instead of bathing with water. Evidence of this is the word of Allah: "And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes to defecate or you have intercourse with your wife and you do not get water, then you should perform tayammum with holy soil." [Surah Maeda, verse: 8] That is, if the sick person is in danger of dying as a result of using water, or if there is a risk of disease progression or delay in recovery, he will perform tayammum. Explaining the method of tayammum, Allaah says: “By it the face and the hands will be cleansed.” [Surat al-Ma'ida, Ayat: 8] He said: “God does not want to put any hardship on you; Rather, He wants to purify you and complete His blessings upon you, so that you may be grateful. ”[Surah Maeda, Ayat: 8]
Narrated from Amr bin As (R) he said: On a cold night in the expedition of ‘Jatus Salasil’ I had a nightmare. I feared I would be destroyed if I took a bath. So I did tayammum. Then I performed the Fajr prayer with my companions. When my companions mentioned the matter to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he said: O 'Amr! Have you prayed with your companions in the state of junub (bathing is obligatory)? Then I told him why I did not take a bath and I added: I heard Allah say: ‘Do not kill yourselves. Surely Allah is Merciful to you '[Surah An-Nisa', verse 29] Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) laughed and said nothing. [Sunan Abu Dawood (334)
Hafiz Ibn Hazar said: There is evidence in this hadith that a person is in danger of dying if he uses water; Whether it is due to cold or any other reason - it is permissible for him to perform tayammum. It is also permissible for the performer of tayammum to be the Imam of the ablution. [Fathul Bari (1/454)]
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz (R) said:
If it is possible for you to collect hot water or you can heat it or buy it from a neighbor or someone else, then you must do it. Because Allah says: "Fear Allah as much as you can." [Surah Tagabun, verse: 18] If you are incapacitated and the cold is very severe, there is a danger of using water, there is no way to heat the water or buy hot water from someone nearby, then your excuse is acceptable and tayammum is enough for you. As Allah says: "Fear Allah as much as you can" and He further says: "If you do not have water, then perform tayammum with holy soil: by it you will wash your face and hands." [Surah Maeda, verse: 8]
The ruling of a person who is unable to use water is similar to the ruling of a person who has not received water. [Majmoo 'Fatawa bin Baz (10 / 199-200)]
It is up to you to wash your body as much as you can. Such as washing hands, feet, etc .; If there is no risk of harm to you. Then you will do tayammum.
We pray to God for your immediate recovery. I pray that the disease you are afflicted with will be the cause of your forgiveness and a means of enhancing your dignity.
GOD is Omniscient.
